The Mamie Till Mobley Foundation Fundraiser was held on April 28, 2023. The Fundraiser took place at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts (915 E 60th St, Chicago, IL, 60637) at 6pm.
As you know, the murder of Emmett Till historically marked him as The Child That Changed the World. His murder stands as one of the most heinous, race-related crimes in American and world history. His murder especially awakened emotions in the hearts of Black America hence sparking the Civil Rights Movement. His mother, Mamie Till Mobley, insisted on informing the world about the horrifying lynching of her son and was a true educator and activist. On April 28th, The Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation honored the legacy of Mamie Till Mobley and paid tribute to her contributions toward educating the youth and creating a more just world.
The Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Fundraiser included live music, comedy, and oratory selections from local Chicago artists and entertainers. It also featured presentations from influential community leaders such as Congressman Jonathan Jackson (son of Civil Rights leader Rev. Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr.) and our keynote address by Rev. Michael L. Pfleger, Pastor of The Faith Community of Saint Sabina.
