It's your turn to speak up about the games people play in the workplace
Play Your Card started as an interactive card game with pop-up dialogues on a variety of topics and categories. Amberly created the game to teach her college students how to engage in intergroup dialogues about their most salient identities. The game inspired the show concept for Play Your Card: The Podcast. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Each episode, Amberly shuffles the deck to determine the category she'll discuss on the show that day. Just like in the game, each color of the card represents a different category. Red is for Racial Equity, Blue is for Gender Equity, Green is for Generational Diversity, and Yellow is for Disability Advocacy.

About the podcast host
Shuffle the deck, meet the Queen of the Pack
Amberly R. Carter, M.Ed, CDE (pronouns: she/her) is a Certified Diversity Executive. She has more than 15 successful years in the DEI and Social Justice space. Highlights about her career and personal story as a social justice educator was published in the Times Union: Women @ Work Magazine where Amberly was featured as a Capital Region expert in diversity and inclusion.
From birth, her family’s ties to America’s greatest stain on justice placed her at the heart of the Movement for Black lives. Amberly is a cousin of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old Black boy who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of whistling at a White woman. His murders were acquitted and his death is said to have sparked the Civil Rights Movement.
